World Championship trials at Stoke Mandeville Stadium
The Great British Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team is holding its final selection camp at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, with four local people from Aylesbury in with a chance of being selected.The four members from Aces Wheelchair Basketball Club, who train and play regularly at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and who are sponsored by Harpers Fitness, will be trying to make it into the squad of 20 and have been training intensively all week.
A typical training camp schedule includes a full series of fitness and conditioning tests which are also used in the selection process. The players will practice a variety of offensive and defensive skills and drills they are likely to experience at the World Championships.
On Saturday, the senior team will be announced, who will then go on to represent Great Britain in the World Championships in July.

We hope we can give them every opportunity to bring home the silverware in July!”

Murray Treseder, Head Coach of the Great British Team said, “This is an important and challenging week for the players and coaches alike, with emotions running high for everyone! We have such a great squad of players who have played fantastically throughout the week, despite the huge pressure they have faced. Picking our final 12 players will be extremely difficult.”
The Basketball Wheelchair World Championships will be held in Birmingham from the 7th - 18th July.
The Great British Junior squad will be training at the Stadium immediately after then men’s camps from the 3rd-5th April, as they prepare for the Junior European Wheelchair Basketball Championships in July in Italy.
