Birthplace of Paralympics celebrate 1000 days until the Games Come Home

Today marks 1,000 days to go before the London 2012 Paralympics. WheelPower, the owners of Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the birthplace of the Paralympics is looking forward to each of the 1,000 days.
Through Stoke Mandeville Stadium, WheelPower is committed to improving the opportunities for disabled people to transform their lives through wheelchair sport.
To celebrate that the Games will be coming home to the county of their birth, WheelPower commits to:
- increase participation
- provide world leading facilities to support wheelchair and Paralympic sport
- provide quality facilities for Training Camps and events in the lead up to 2012
- develop educational opportunities for disability sport and people with disabilities through Stoke Mandeville Institute of Sport and Education
- embrace the Cultural Olympiad as the birthplace of the Paralympic Games
- encourage volunteering in wheelchair and disability sport

The London 2012 Paralympics will run from 29 August- 5 September and features 20 sports in the programme, breaking down into disciplines and events.
