Operations Manager – Full Time

About your role

Are you business minded, driven with previous management experience preferably within the leisure environment?

Stoke Mandeville Stadium is looking to appoint an Operations Manager to lead teams whilst working closely with the Contract Manager to deliver the centres objectives.

Supporting the Contract Manager you will take all the necessary steps to ensure the customer service is second to none. This will involve effective deployment of your teams, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety requirement and taking on a hands on approach to service delivery.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, team player and approachable providing a quality experience for all visitors and staff. The successful candidate should also have a good working knowledge of Health and Safety & knowledge of Quality systems, specifically Quest.

A first aid qualification would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given to the successful candidate.

This role would be an excellent career progression for an experienced Duty Manager or a current Operations Manager looking for a new challenge with a larger site.

A flexible approach to hours of work will be required as you will be working on a shift rota, including early mornings, evenings & weekends.

Health & Fitness Manager

Are you a proactive team player with excellent communication skills and high operational standards? If so, we are looking to recruit a Full time Health & Fitness Manager to start immediately.

Supporting the General Manager and/or Sales Manager, you will lead and be accountable for the fitness team, personal trainers and group exercise instructors. You’ll employ the process and procedures of 1Life’s QMS to ensure the health and fitness areas are open, safe, and clean, equipment working and staff friendly. The right individual will take a hands-on approach to service delivery & be able to work under their own initiative to ‘get things done’.

The main duties include the management of facilities & activities programmes within the Centre. Health and Safety management and monitoring, ensuring your department deliver a first class service for all customers and visitors.

This position holds a minimum 1 years supervisory experience within a leisure environment and Level 3 Fitness Instructors Qualification

Food and Beverage Team Recruitment

1 Life have a range of vacancies in the Food and Beverage Team at Stoke Mandeville Stadium. This is an exciting time to be joining the team as we undertake a launch of new menus and enter the peak period for large scale events at the birthplace of the Paralympics.

You will be part of a team which caters for the inspirational sporting individuals and teams, who are based at, and attend The Stadium. Playing host to regular national and internal high profile sporting and non-sporting events, our guests are diverse in age and background, and many are massively inspirational. Catering for everything from world championships, to large scale conferences, training camps and major sporting events. In addition the team provide food and beverage services to Hotel Residents and operate a Café.

We are recruiting for a Head Chef, Café and Events team members.

For the Head Chef role, we are interested in speaking to people who are qualified to at least a Level 3 standard, have significant experience of working in a cook from scratch environment, can demonstrate menu development experience, have expertise in cooking for large events (upto 500 people), can demonstrate a desire to work in this inspirational environment and love working in a team. In addition the role requires the post holder to undertake accurate food ordering , ensure correct stock levels are maintained, gross profit margins are achieved  and ensure the kitchen complies with all relevant standards, in particular all HACCP requirements. The Head Chef has responsibility for a small team , and it essential that the post holder is able to effectively lead and direct this team to deliver the diverse food requirements of our customer base.

For the front of house roles, ideally, you will have a background in the relevant discipline. We are particularly keen to talk to people who have good experience of working in a branded Coffee environment for the Café role. However, we are also interested in people who may have gained experience in another customer focussed environment too.

The Chef role is full time , 5 days over 7 , with a mixture of lunch and dinner shifts . The Café role is full time , 5 days over 7, to include weekend shifts . We are also happy to receive applications for holiday and sickness cover for Café team members. The Events roles are zero hours roles, to assist with large scale events.

Lifeguard (Part-time)

Job Role Content

We are recruiting for individuals who are highly motivated and can provide excellent customer service. You’d be critical in maintaining our facilities to be open, clean and safe, as well as ensuring equipment is working. Ideally holding a National Pool Lifeguard qualification, you will be able to work on your own initiative & play an integral part of the team who follow a quality management system. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Taking responsibility for the Health and Safety of all our customers
  • Pro-actively carrying out daily checks such as pool temperature ensuring standards are met
  • Take price in poolside surroundings, by conducting cleaning duties & maintaining hygiene standards
  • Provide a professional, friendly and welcoming services to all customers
  • Maintain full product knowledge of the services at our centre.
  • Flexibility towards the hours and role are essential as you will be required to work on a shift-rota basis including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

This position holds a minimum of an active National Pool Lifeguarding Qualification. However full training will be given to the right candidate.

Weekend & Evening Lodge Receptionists Part time

We are recruiting for individuals who are highly motivated and can provide excellent customer service, welcoming guests to the facility, take the appropriate payment where required, promoting the facility and providing information as required. You will be able to work on your own initiative & play an integral part of the team who follow a quality management system.  Some of your main responsibilities will include:

  • To welcome all guests for the facility, promoting the image of the centre and the Company by the provision of a quality customer care service.
  • To actively sell all activities, memberships, courses and other products within the centre, as well as all other facilities within the Company
  • To deal with all written, telephone and verbal enquiries politely and promptly and handle and record all lost property items in line with Company procedures
  • To collect monies, cash up and bank accurately and efficiently in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Provide a professional, friendly and welcoming services to all customers
  • Maintain full product knowledge of the services at our centre.

Qualifications

Experienced and I.T literate is desired. However full training can be given.
